Abstract
THE VALUE OF THESE INTERACTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS TO POLICE AND THEIR DEALINGS WITH CITIZENS IS SIGNIFICANT, SINCE THE STRESSFUL CONTEXT OF MOST ENCOUNTERS MAKES ACCURATE PREDICTION OF THE OTHER PARTICIPANT'S BEHAVIOR DIFFICULT. THIS IS MOST OBVIOUS AS POLICE ENCOUNTER MEMBERS OF DIFFERENT RACIAL OR ETHNIC GROUPS.
