This booklet provides general information on citizen actions to prevent child abuse and profiles general and selected resources that address various needs associated with child abuse.
Abstract
General information on citizen action to prevent child abuse focuses on the logistics for reporting suspected child abuse and various community agencies and organizations that use volunteers to help prevent child abuse. Brief descriptions of general resources designed to address child abuse encompass audiovisuals, directories, hotlines, literature search, materials on child abuse and parenting, media campaign, photographs of abused children, self-help groups, and statistics. Profiles of selected resources are presented under various topics related to child abuse intervention and prevention. They include adoption, adult survivors of childhood abuse, children and youth resources, children's legal rights and advocacy, culture-specific organizations, family resources, gifted and exceptional children, law enforcement, legal resources, medical resources, missing children, organizations, parent resources, parenting education, program support for new parents, substance abuse, and the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse.
