Abstract
Information came from a review of literature located through searches of NCJRS and nine other document databases and from reviews of data from the Uniform Crime Reports and National Crime Surveys. The analysis focused on programs addressing the primary prevention of the four types of violence, on secondary prevention programs in the same areas, on programs addressing the causes of these problems, and on programs teaching positive skills for coping with stress to children and youth who show generally aggressive behaviors. The literature review indicated that the common feature of the four offenses is aggressive, assaultive behavior. An introduction to each section of the report reviews the literature concerning youth as victims and as perpetrators, as appropriate. Programs are described in terms of their target populations, purposes, services, and locations.
