Abstract
The NVAA was established under the leadership and support of the U.S. Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). In developing the NVAA curriculum from 2006 through 2011, the NVAA Work Group worked closely with the OVC to provide knowledge and insight in the redesign of curriculum materials. The Work Group was composed of nationally known scholars and practitioners. A listing is provided of the work group members and their credentials. The curriculum consists of 12 modules that include the history of the crime victims rights movement in the United States, U.S. victims' rights laws, the impact of crime on victims, navigating the justice system, communication with victims and survivors, direct victim services, cultural and spiritual competence in victims services, ethics in victim services, the development of resilience, resources for victim advocates, and taking the knowledge gained through the curriculum back to participants' home agencies.
