THE DIRECTORY IS A COMPILATION OF APPROXIMATELY 9,100 FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND PRIVATELY-FUNDED AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OR PROVISION OF ALCOHOLISM OR DRUG TREATMENT PROGRAMS IN THE U.S.
Abstract
DIRECTORY INFORMATION WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE 1979 NATIONAL DRUG AND ALCOHOLISM TREATMENT UTILIZATION SURVEY (NDATUS), WHICH COLLECTED DATA ON TREATMENT CAPACITY, UTILIZATION, FUNDING, AND STAFFING. THE INFORMATION WAS COLLECTED AS OF APRIL 30, 1979. PREPARED AS A RESOURCE TOOL FOR PROGRAM MANAGERS, TREATMENT PERSONNEL, AND OTHERS INTERESTED IN THE LOCATION OF ALCOHOLISM AND DRUG ABUSE UNITS, THE PUBLICATION CONSISTS OF THREE SECTIONS: (1) STATE AUTHORITIES, (2) DRUG ABUSE AND ALCOHOLISM TREATMENT PROGRAMS, AND (3) VETERANS ADMINISTRATION MEDICAL CENTERS. ALL SECTIONS ARE ORGANIZED ALPHABETICALLY. FOR STATES HAVING SEPARATE ALCOHOLISM AND DRUG ABUSE AUTHORITIES, THE ALCOHOLISM AUTHORITY IS LISTED FIRST. WITHIN EACH STATE CATEGORY, THE ENTRIES ARE ALPHABETIZED BY CITY AND THEN BY PROGRAM. EACH ENTRY CONSISTS OF THE UNIT'S NAME, ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, AND FOCUS. A COPY OF THE SURVEY FORM IS INCLUDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED--PRG)
