AN OVERVIEW AND EVALUATION OF THE PITTSFIELD DISTRICT COURT'S BUILDING, ENVIRONMENT, COSTS, ROOMS, STRUCTURE, MAINTENANCE, AND FURNISHINGS.
Abstract
THIS FACILITIES STUDY IS PART OF A NATIONAL CENTER FOR STATE COURTS STUDY OF THE MASSACHUSETTS COURTS. THE BUILDING FACILITIES ARE DESCRIBED. SUCH FACTORS AS THE BUILDING ARCHITECTURE, THE COMMUNITY SERVED, THE NEIGHBORHOOD, AVAILABILITY OF TRANSPORTATION, AND MAINTENANCE COSTS ARE ALSO EXAMINED. IT WAS NOTED THAT STRUCTURALLY THE BUILDING IS IN GOOD CONDITION, AND THE HEATING, PLUMBING, AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE ALL FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE LIGHTING, ACOUSTICS, CONDITION OF FLOORS, WALLS, AND CEILINGS, AND DECOR OF THE ROOMS ARE CONSIDERED AS WELL. THE APPENDIXES INCLUDE A DESCRIPTION OF THE NATIONAL CENTER'S ACTIVITIES IN THE MASSACHUSETTS COURTS AND AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ON ACOUSTICS, COLOR, LIGHTING, AND COURT ARCHITECTURE.
