FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO EXTEND RESIDENTIAL, MENTAL HEALTH, AND COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION SERVICES TO A HIGHLY RECIDIVISTIC GROUP OF JUVENILE IMPACT AND MULTIPLE THEFT OFFENDERS IN THE CITY AND COUNTY OF DENVER.
Abstract
IT WAS HOPED THAT THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE YOUTH RECIDIVIST REDUCTION PROGRAM (YRRP) WOULD REDUCE RECIDIVISM AMONG PARTICIPANTS BY 25 TO 35 PERCENT. RESIDENTIAL CARE, DIFFERENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, AND COMMUNITY REHABILITATION SERVICES WERE PROVIDED THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A LONG-RANGE, MINIMUM SECURITY GROUP HOME AND AN OPEN GROUP HOME PROGRAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE EXISTING GROUP HOMES IN DENVER COUNTY. FROM APRIL 1, 1973 THROUGH MARCH 31, 1974 THE YRRP EVALUATED AND PLACED IN RESIDENCE 98 IMPACT AND MULTIPLE THEFT OFFENDERS. DATA REVEALED THAT A RECIDIVISM RATE REDUCTION OF 64.4 PERCENT WAS ACHIEVED AMONG PROJECT CLIENTS. THIS EXCEEDED THE PROJECT MAXIMUM GOAL OF 35 PERCENT. A FINAL FISCAL REPORT IS ALSO INCLUDED.
