This document provides information to criminal justice officials in Florida regarding the Community Corrections Partnership Act.
Abstract
The legislation is designed to establish credible intermediate sanctions, in order to reduce the number of prison admissions to the State system and lead to a focused utilization of beds for the most serious offenders. In addition to tables presenting statistics on numbers of prison admissions, prison population projections, and admissions by offense type, the document summarizes the sanctions enumerated by the Act, including pretrial intervention, administrative probation, drug offender probation, probation restitution centers, nonsecure drug facilities, secure drug facilities, community control, split-sentence backend, and work camps. Finally, the report includes rules of the Florida Department of Corrections creating the Community Corrections Partnership.
