A DISCUSSION OF DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND CAPABILITIES FOR INTERNAL SECURITY ARMORED VEHICLES AND A COMPARISON AND DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLES NOW IN SERVICE.
Abstract
INTERNAL SECURITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ARMORED VEHICLES DIFFER GREATLY FROM WARFARE REQUIREMENTS. HOWEVER, THERE ARE SOME SIMILARITIES, SUCH AS THE NEED FOR SURVEILLANCE OPENINGS. DIFFERENT VARIETIES NOW IN USE ARE DESCRIBED AS WELL AS SOME INFRA-RED SYSTEMS FOR NIGHT VISION. RIOT CONTROL EQUIPMENT SUGGESTED FOR APPLICATION INCLUDES HIGH-PRESSURE WATER CANNON AND THE RECENTLY DEVELOPED STUN GUN - A DEVICE WHICH DELIVERS A BEAN-BAG LIKE PROJECTILE WITH THE FORCE OF A HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER'S KNOCKOUT PUNCH AT 300 FT. REQUIREMENTS FOR ANTI-TERRORIST AND ANTI-GUERILLA OPERATIONS ARE PRESENTED, AS WELL AS AUTOMOTIVE FEATURES AND ARMOR SPECIFICATIONS.
