OJP Grants Financial Management and Grant Administration Training

The Office of Justice Programs offers financial management training for our award recipients. Successful completion of one of the financial management trainings below will satisfy the training requirement for the Points of Contact and Financial Points of Contact of an award.

DOJ Grants Financial Management Online Training

This training is designed for individuals responsible for the financial administration of discretionary and/or formula grants awarded from Federal grant-in-aid programs administered by various bureaus and offices at DOJ, including the:

  • Office of Justice Programs
  • Office of Community Oriented Policing Services
  • Office on Violence Against Women

In its 24 modules, this training emphasizes the basics of Federal grants management. The topics discussed are similar to the ones covered in the 2-day Financial Management seminars hosted by the DOJ Office of the Chief Financial Officer each year. DOJ is offering this online version of the seminars to give you, a current grantee, the ability to complete Federal grants management training from your desktop in place of traveling to the onsite trainings. The only prerequisite for taking this online training is that you must be a direct award recipient with a current grant and/or cooperative agreement as awarded by one of the DOJ grant making agencies listed. 2017 Financial Management Training Seminars

For the first time, OJP is offering two advanced grants financial management trainings, scheduled for October 19 - 20 and November 16 - 17, 2016. In order to be eligible for either of the two advanced trainings, you will need to have attended a live training seminar at some point in time, or completed the online training. Additional information will be distributed in the future regarding the advanced trainings.

As an Office of Justice Programs (OJP) award recipient, you and members of your organization are also invited to attend a 2017 Financial Management Training Seminar. OJP has scheduled 5 basic financial training seminars that will take place in Washington, DC on January 30 - 31, March 29 - 30, July 12 - 13, September 20 - 21 and November 15 - 16, 2017 and two advanced Financial Management Training seminars on May 31 - June 1 and October 25 - 26, 2017.

The Financial Management Training Seminars are designed for individuals responsible for the financial administration of discretionary/formula awards and cooperative agreements awarded from Federal grant-in-aid programs OJP bureaus and offices administers. Officials from OJP's Office of the Chief Financial Officer will lead all seminars. Each seminar consists of 2 full days of presentations and financial exercises.

Please have your organization's Vendor Identification number available during the registration process. There is no cost to attend the training itself; however, attendees are responsible for all costs associated with their participation in the seminar, including transportation, lodging and meals. The seminar format is informal and participants are invited to dress business casual.

An email announcing registration periods for each seminar are distributed in advance to all active OJP grant holders. Reservations are subject to availability, so register as soon as possible. Attendees will be sent a registration email confirmation upon review and approval by OJP. There will be no onsite registration or walk-ins allowed.
