REPORT OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OFFERED IN 1973 TO THE WYOMING SUPREME COURT IN IMPLEMENTING LEGISLATION THAT REQUIRES THE COURT TO ASSUME SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY FOR JUSTICE OF THE PEACE COURTS ON JANUARY 1, 1975.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH PROJECT GOALS, A REVIEW OF EXISTING WYOMING STATUTES, CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS, AND SUPREME COURT PUBLICATIONS WAS MADE. THIS WAS DONE TO IDENTIFY CURRENT NEEDS AND POSSIBLE EMERGENT PROBLEMS IN THE AREA OF SUPERVISION AND RULEMAKING POLICIES FOR THE JUSTICE COURTS. THE REPORT CONTAINS COMMENTARY ON THOSE PORTIONS OF WYOMING LEGISLATION DEEMED RELEVANT TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EFFECTIVE SUPREME COURT SUPERVISORY CONTROL. LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS AND COURT RULES ARE RECOMMENDED WHERE CONSULTANTS FELT IT NECESSARY TO FACILITATE THE COURT'S ASSUMPTION OF ITS NEW SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES. ALSO INCLUDED ARE SOME PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS TO ASSIST THE CHIEF JUSTICE IN ADMINISTRATIVE ASPECTS OF HIS SUPERVISORY ROLE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
