THIS IS A BRIEF OVERVIEW AND DISCUSSION OF THE POTENTIAL NUCLEAR TERRORIST THREAT, RECOGNIZING THE BROAD SPECTRUM OF TERRORIST ACTIONS AND PERPETRATORS. THAT THE THREAT WILL NOT BE WIDE SCALE DESTRUCTION.
Abstract
THE PRIMARY ATTRACTION TO TERRORISTS IN GOING NUCLEAR IS THE FACT THAT ALMOST ANY TERRORIST ACT ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORD 'NUCLEAR' WOULD INVARIABLY GENERATE ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF FEAR AND PUBLICITY. FOR THE MOST PART, TERRORISTS ARE NOT INTERESTED IN WIDESPREAD HOLOCAUST. THEIR POWER LIES IN THEIR ABILITY TO CREATE AND SPREAD FEAR, THUS GAINING PUBLICITY AND ATTENTION FOR THEIR CAUSE. THE POSSIBILITY OF A NUCLEAR HOAX IS NOT RULED OUT. THE IMPORTANCE OF DEVELOPING NUCLEAR SAFEGUARDS NOW, WHEN THERE IS STILL TIME, IS STRESSED....MSP
