Abstract
THE STUDY WAS BASED ON PROBATION, POLICE, COURT, AND SOCIAL WORKER RECORDS OF 180 OFFENDERS GIVEN SENTENCES WITH PROBATION IN A WEST GERMAN COURT FROM 1959 TO 1964. THE STUDY ANALYZES THE CORRELATION WITH PROBATION SUCCESS OF SUCH FACTORS AS FAMILY BACKGROUND, EDUCATION, AGE, OCCUPATION, PERSONALITY, CRIMINAL CAREER, TYPE OF OFFENSE, COURT PROCESSING AND DISPOSITION, RELATIONSHIP WITH PROBATION WORKERS, CHARACTER OF PROBATION SERVICES, AND PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES DURING THE PROBATION PERIOD. --IN GERMAN
