Security decisionmakers are finding the training they need in a variety of seminars, training institutes, and inhouse programs.
Abstract
Security training often mirrors major issues, such as computer viruses, terrorism, drug abuse, and employee theft. Business Risks International offers security support services, including training in such areas as industrial counterespionage and drug use detection and intervention. The Chernicoff Group covers both business and management issues and such traditional areas as interviewing techniques and investigative methods. Richard W. Kobetz and Associates offers seminars on executive protection, physical security, and violence in the workplace. Other topics covered include crowd control, media relations, and dealing with bomb threats. The MIS Training Institute offers courses in both computer operation and computer security. Vitro Engineering Security provides training in the capabilities and operation of high-tech security systems such as access control and closed-circuit television. Wackenhut Training Institute offers a comprehensive training program, from basics to advanced topics; and the National Crime Prevention Institute also offers general programs on retail security and corporate loss prevention. A training resource list is appended. Photographs.
