PERSONAL AND PROPERTY PROTECTION METHODS WRITTEN FOR THE LAYMAN.
Abstract
NUMEROUS HOUSEHOLDERS AND VICTIMS WERE INTERVIEWED, AS WERE KNOWN BURGLARS AND OTHER CRIMINALS. A LARGE NUMBER OF POLICE OFFICERS CONTRIBUTED THEIR EXPERIENCES AND COMMENTS, AND MANY MANUFACTURERS OF ALL TYPES OF SECURITY DEVICES COOPERATED EXTENSIVELY. THE RESULTS OF THESE INTERVIEWS, AS WELL AS THE AUTHOR'S EXPERIENCES, ARE PRESENTED IN CLEAR, NON-TECHNICAL LANGUAGE. THE AUTHOR DETAILS IN NARRATIVE FORM, WITH ILLUSTRATIONS AND DIAGRAMS, THE BEST METHODS FOR PROTECTING HOUSES, APARTMENTS, AND FARM, RANCH OR VACATION RETREATS FROM BURGLARY. PROTECTIVE DEVICES, SUCH AS LOCKS, BOLTS, BARS, ALARM SYSTEMS, SAFES, VAULTS AND HIDING PLACES, ARE DISCUSSED. ADVICE ON PROTECTING PETS, CARS AND BOATS IS PROVIDED AS ARE DISCUSSIONS OF UNARMED RESISTANCE TO MUGGERS AND OTHER STREET CRIMINALS. ALSO INCLUDED IS A CHAPTER ON THE PROTECTION OF SMALL BUSINESSES FROM BURGLARY AND ROBBERY. (SNI ABSTRACT)
