A DESCRIPTION OF THE SEMI-AUTOMATED TERMATREX RECORDS SYSTEM USED BY THE STAMFORD (CT) POLICE DEPARTMENT, INCLUDING A DISCUSSION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION, REPORTPRODUCING CAPABILITIES, AND EQUIPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE TERMATREX SYSTEM, WHICH CAN BE PURCHASED FOR AS LITTLE AS 7,000 DOLLARS AND NO MORE THAN 20,000 DOLLARS, WAS SEEN AS A WORKABLE COMPROMISE BETWEEN A STRICTLY MANUAL RECORDS SYSTEMS AND RECORDS COMPUTERIZATION. PREPARATIONS FOR THE CHANGEOVER TO THIS RECORDS SYSTEM ARE DESCRIBED. THE TERMATREX CONTAINS ARREST DATA, MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT DATA, AND DATA ON BREAKING AND ENTERING. UNDER THIS SYSTEM, POLICE RECORDS ARE KEPT CURRENT, USUALLY WITHIN ONE TOUR. A NUMBER OF STATISTICAL REPORTS ARE ALSO MADE POSSIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM. THE BASIC OPERATIONS OF THE TERMATREX EQUIPMENT ARE DESCRIBED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
