THE SUBJECT OF ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS TO MAKE UP FOR THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR EXPERIENCE IS AN ALMOST TOTALLY UNEXPLORED FIELD, AND THE FIRST THING NEEDED IN THIS FIELD IS A CONSIDERABLE RESEARCH EFFORT.
Abstract
THE MOST FREQUENT PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES ARE SHOCK, NEUROTIC REACTIONS, FEAR OF A REPETITION OF THE EXPERIENCE, AND, IN THE CASE OF SEXUAL CONTACTS BETWEEN ADULTS AND CHILDREN, WHAT IS POPULARLY CALLED 'MORAL DAMAGE'. THE VICTIM HAS ALMOST NO ACCEPTABLE CHANNELS FOR VENTING HIS NEED FOR RETALIATION. --IN DUTCH
