AFTER REVIEWING THE VALUE OF DOCUMENTS AS EVIDENCE AND INVESTIGATIVE LEADS, THIS TRAINING GUIDE DISCUSSES METHODS OF DOCUMENT COLLECTION AND EXAMINATION AND EXPLORES PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING A HANDWRITING ANALYSIS
Abstract
IT IS STATED THAT SINCE THE EVIDENTIARY IMPORTANCE OF A DOCUMENT MAY NOT BE IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS, ALL DOCUMENTS CONNECTED WITH AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE WHEN COLLECTED. RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING THESE DOCUMENTS ARE PRESENTED. EXAMPLES OF THE RESULTS THAT MAY BE OBTAINED THROUGH PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL EXAMINATION OF DOCUMENTS ARE PROVIDED. THE TRAINING GUIDE THEN REVIEWS THE METHODS FOR OBTAINING PROPER 'STANDARD' HANDWRITING SAMPLES FOR THE PURPOSE OF HANDWRITING ANALYSIS.
