Abstract
DUTCH LAW PRESCRIBES THAT THE POLICE SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING LAW AND ORDER AND GIVE ASSISTANCE TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS IT. AS AN EXAMPLE OF GIVING ASSISTANCE UNDER UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES, A CASE IS CITED OF A POLICEMAN WHO SAVED THE LIFE OF A NEWBORN BABY WHO HAD BEEN DROPPED INTO THE TOILET ACCIDENTALLY. THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A LIST OF IMPROVEMENTS HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE MADE IN DUTCH POLICE TRAINING. --IN DUTCH
