EXPLORATION OF THE SOURCES OF PUBLIC SUPPORT AND OPPOSITION TO POLICE VIOLENCE ANALYZING THE NATURE OF SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AS WELL AS ATTITUDES TOWARD THE POLICE.
Abstract
REACTIVE AND PROACTIVE MODELS ARE USED TO ANALYZE BOTH MEMBERSHIP IN SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VARIABLES SUCH AS EDUCATIONAL LEVELS, RACE, AGE, FINANCIAL INCOME AND SATISFACTION, PARTY IDENTIFICATION, AND VOTING REGISTRATION TO ATTITUDES TOWARD POLICE USE OF VIOLENCE. THE SECOND MODEL IS FOUND TO BE MORE USEFUL IN EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE VARIABLES AND ATTITUDES CONCERNING POLICE VIOLENCE.
