Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SEMINAR WAS TO INVESTIGATE THE STATE OF POLICE-PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING. TOPICS PRESENTED AT THE SEMINAR INCLUDED CRITICISMS OF THE POLICE BY THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES, THE EXPERIENCES OF A VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION FOR YOUNG DROP-OUTS ARRESTED FOR DRUG ABUSE, THE RELATIONSHIP OF POLICE AND IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES, AND POLICE TRAINING. OTHER TOPICS WERE THE SOCIAL ROLE OF POLICE, THE RELATIONS OF STUDENTS AND POLICE, AN EVALUATION OF THE CURRENT POLICE ROLE, AND A FACTUAL SUMMARY OF CURRENT POLICE ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY
