Abstract
THE ARTICLE RECOUNTS ATTEMPTS BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF MAYOR MAYNARD JACKSON TO REMOVE JOHN INMAN FROM THE POST OF CHIEF OF POLICE. THE ARTICLE FOCUSES ON THE ISSUE OF AUTHORITY IN POLICY-MAKING, FUNCTIONS WITH RESPECT TO POLICE OPERATIONS. THE ARTICLE ALSO RECOUNTS CHARGES OF CORRUPTION AND PATRONAGE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN CONNECTION WITH CONFLICTS WITH THE CITY ADMINISTRATION.
