This article discusses how and why the Christian Identity movement became involved in paramilitary activities.
Abstract
The Identity movement has ties to the white supremacist movement, which has promoted armed violence. Under the guise of fighting urban riots, communists, and revolutions, the Identity movement has created a paramilitary organization called the Christian-Patriots Defense League (CPDL). The CPDL is preparing for a final battle of Armageddon, which it believes will take place in the United States. Leaders in the Identity movement played a role in the paramilitary development of the clandestine Order, a union of members from the Covenant, the Sword, the Arm of the Lord, the Aryan Nations, the Ku Klux Klan, and other neo-Nazi groups.
