Abstract
FOLLOWING A DISCUSSION OF THE GOAL OF CORRECTIONS, GENERAL COMMENTS ARE MADE ON THE DEPARTMENTAL STRUCTURE, REFORMATORIES AND PENITENTIARIES, RECEPTION AND CLASSIFICATION, INSTITUTIONAL PLACEMENT, AND OHIO'S INSTITUTIONS. THE AUTHOR THEN FOCUSES ON PROBLEMS AT THE SOUTHERN OHIO CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. A DISCUSSION OF DEPARTMENTAL STAFF AND STAFF TRAINING IS ALSO INCLUDED ALONG WITH COMMENTS ON EDUCATION WITHIN THE INSTITITIONS, AND COMMUNICATIONS. OTHER TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE PROBATION AND PAROLE, COMMUNITY BASED TREATMENT, PRISONER'S RIGHTS, MEDICAL CARE, AND PRISON LIFE.
