THREE CRIMINAL JUSTICE MODELING CONCEPTS ARE DISCUSSED SYSTEMIC, PROCEDURAL, AND ORGANIZATIONAL - MANAGERIAL.
Abstract
THE STRENGTHS AND THE INADEQUACIES OF EACH TYPE OF MODEL ARE DISCUSSED. WHILE SYSTEMIC MODELS CAN BE APPLICABLE TO DECENTRALIZED SYSTEMS, THEY OFTEN CANNOT COPE WITH DIVERGENT AGENCY GOALS. PROCEDURAL MODELS MAY BE DIVIDED INTO 'QUE PROCESS' AND 'CRIME CONTROL' MODELS, OR JOINED IN A 'BATTLE' MODEL. ORGANIZATIONAL AND MANAGEMENT MODELS ARE OFTEN HANDICAPPED BY THEIR INABILITY TO PERCEIVE THE BROAD, SYSTEMIC PROBLEMS.
