THE GOALS, CONTENT, AND BENEFITS OF A UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE ENTITLED 'MEMORY TRAINING FOR POLICE' ARE DISCUSSED.
Abstract
THIS COURSE, WHICH LASTS FOR SEVEN CLASS SESSIONS, TEACHES LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL TO UTILIZE MNEMONIC TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE THEIR MEMORIES. MANY OF THE TECHNIQUES ARE BASED ON THE USE OF MENTAL IMAGERY TO ASSIST IN FORMING ASSOCIATIONS. THE ACTUAL CONTENT OF THE COURSE INCLUDES A DESCRIPTION OF SIX DIFFERENT MNEMONIC TECHNIQUES ALONG WITH NUMEROUS PRACTICE SESSIONS ALLOWING STUDENTS TO APPLY THE TECHNIQUES TO LAW ENFORCEMENT SITUATIONS.
