DESCRIBES TRAINING COURSE TO TEACH POLICE OFFICERS VEHICLE CONTROL TO PREVENT SKIDS, ESPECIALLY DURING SUPER-HIGH-SPEED PURSUITS.
Abstract
A DESCRIPTION IS PRESENTED OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SKIDS AND WHAT TO DO TO BRING THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF SKIDS ARE ANALYZED - FRONT WHEEL SKIDS, THE SPINOUT, ALL WHEEL SKID, POWER SKID, AND THE HYDROPLANE SKID. COMMENTS ARE THEN MADE ON CONTROLLED BRAKING. HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED OF THE TEACHING OF THE EMERGENCY REACTION COURSE AND FOR THE RECOVERY OF A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN RUN OFF OF THE ROAD.
