THIS REPORT PROVIDES A DOCUMENTED EVALUATION OF THE YOUTHFUL OFFENDER PROGRAM(YOP) IN BELLEVUE, WA.
Abstract
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM WAS TO PROVIDE COUNSELING AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO JUVENILES AS CLOSE TO THE TIME OF ARREST AS POSSIBLE, AND TO SERVE AS A POTENTIAL ALTERNATIVE TO JUVENILE COURT DISPOSITION. THE EVALUATORS FOUND THAT THE PROGRAM HAD DEMONSTRATED A HIGH LEVEL OF OVERALL PERFORMANCE. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDED IMPROVEMENT OF THE SPECIFICITY OF OFFENDER CASE ANALYSES; INCREASING THE QUANTITY AND DURATION OF PERSONAL CONTACTS ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE CASES RETAINED IN THE TREATMENT POPULATION; AND DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE STAFF GROWTH....BDS
