DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY COMPONENTS OF POLICE-YOUTH INTERACTION, TEACH THESE BEHAVIORS TO COURT-ADJUDICATED DELINQUENTS, AND VALIDATE CHANGES THROUGH SUBJECTIVE RATINGS BY POLICE AND CITIZENS.
Abstract
DATA FROM THE THREE EXPERIMENTS SUGGEST THAT TRAINING IMPROVED THE POLICE OFFICERS' SUBJECTIVE IMPRESSIONS OF THE YOUTHS AND MAY HAVE DECREASED THE YOUTHS' PROBABILITY OF BEING STOPPED AGAIN, TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AGAIN, OR BEING LABELED AS TROUBLEMAKERS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
