VARIOUS BUNCO SCHEMES, THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY ARE CARRIED OUT, AND HOW THEY CAN BE PREVENTED.
Abstract
DIFFERENT SCHEMES ARE USED TO ILLUSTRATE THE FOUR PHASES OF A BUNCO OPERATION. THESE FOUR PHASES INCLUDE IDENTIFYING THE VICTIM, DISCOVERING IF THE VICTIM HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE THE EFFORT WORTHWHILE, CONVINCING THE VICTIM TO GET THE MONEY INTO HIS OWN HANDS (OR TO OTHERWISE COMMIT HIMSELF), AND GETTING THE MONEY AWAY FROM THE VICTIM. STRESSED IS THE 'SOMETHING FOR NOTHING' RUSE WHICH ENABLES BUNCO ARTISTS TO DEFRAUD THEIR VICTIMS.
