DESCRIPTION OF FURLOUGH POLICY AT LENZBURG PRISON, WHICH IS BASED ON THE IDEAL OF PREPARING INMATES FOR LIFE AFTER RELEASE, WITH STATISTICS SHOWING NUMBERS OF FURLOUGHS BETWEEN 1968 AND 1973, AND THE REASONS FOR GRANTING THEM.
Abstract
THE NUMBER OF THOSE WHO DID NOT RETURN FROM FURLOUGH IS GIVEN FOR EACH YEAR. THE PERCENTAGE OF THOSE NOT RETURNING IS REGARDED AS SMALL. INMATES ARE CONTEMPTUOUS OF THOSE WHO DO NOT RETURN. THEY ARE SEEN AS COWARDLY. ON THE OTHER HAND, THOSE WHO ESCAPE FROM THE PRISON ARE ADMIRED. --IN GERMAN
