Abstract
THE AUTHOR RELIES ON THE CRITERIA DEVELOPED BY GUSTAFSON. THESE INVOLVE WEAR OF THE TOOTH, RELATIVE POSITION OF THE GUM, THE AMOUNT OF CEMENTUM AND SECONDARY DENTINE THAT HAS BEEN DEPOSITED, THE TRANSLUCENCY OF THE ROOTS, AND THE DETERIORATION OF THE ROOTS. DENTAL EXAMINATIONS OF AIR-CRASH VICTIMS WHICH LED TO THEIR IDENTIFICATION SERVE AS ILLUSTRATIONS OF THIS TECHNIQUE.
