THE MUSEUM COMMUNITY IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY CONCERNED OVER THE LACK OF SUFFICIENT PROTECTION AFFORDED MANY OBJECTS OF ART; HOWEVER, BUDGET LIMITATIONS RESTRICT THE EXTENT TO WHICH ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS CAN BE TAKEN.
Abstract
THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES A PROGRAM BY THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS THAT PROVIDES GRANTS FOR MUSEUMS TO HELP THEM DEVELOP AND EXPAND SECURITY. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE GRANT PERIOD DESCRIBED WAS JULY 1, 1977; HOWEVER, THE PROGRAM IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE. FUNDS ARE PROVIDED FOR THE FOLLOWING: ORGANIZATION AND UTILIZATION OF THE GUARD FORCE, PHYSICAL SECURITY, FIRE SAFETY PLANS, FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS, INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEMS, SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT, AND COMMUNICATIONS....TWH
