These materials for students (i.e., computer security managers) participating in a seminar on data security outline the major points to be raised during discussion and provide diagrams, graphs, and definitions helpful in discussions.
Abstract
The seminar is designed to provide a working knowledge of how to safeguard computer facilities and personnel, how to maintain the integrity of processable data, and how to control the use of proprietary or sensitive data. A questionnaire asking for feedback on course content precedes the introductory material, which sketches outlines of the seminar's goals and the material to be discussed at the seminar. Other information outlined concerns organizing for security, data resources and hazards, physical protection, procedural controls, threats to data security, and a security plan. A systematic approach to data security is illustrated, as are structured programming techniques, security organization, and information flow.
