TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF VARIOUS TYPES OF EXPLOSIONS AND OF ON-THE-SPOT INVESTIGATION OF EXPLOSIONS, ILLUSTRATED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN PHYSICAL, PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, DISSOCIATIVE AND COMBUSTION EXPLOSIONS. DISSOCIATIVE EXPLOSIONS ARE PRODUCED BY HIGHLY ENDOTHERMIC COMPOUNDS WHICH, ESPECIALLY BY THE RECOMPOSITION OF THEIR PRIMARY ELEMENTS, RESTORE, IN A VERY SHORT TIME, ALL THE HEAT ENERGY AND POTENTIAL ABSORBED DURING THEIR FORMATION. A DISTINCTION IS ALSO MADE BETWEEN DIFFUSE AND CONCENTRATED EXPLOSIONS. A CASE HISTORY IS GIVEN IN WHICH THE OWNER OF A HOUSE WAS ARRESTED FOR HAVING BLOWN IT UP DELIBERATELY. HOWEVER, INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THE EXPLOSION WAS AN ACCIDENT RESULTING FROM A SERVANT'S HAVING LEFT THE GAS TURNED ON. --IN ITALIAN
