Abstract
THE FUNCTIONS OF THE COURT COMPUTER SYSTEM IN SAN DIEGO ARE DESCRIBED AND THE OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR THE INDEXING, COURT DOCKET AND CALENDARING FUNCTIONS UNDER THE MANUAL AND COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS ARE COMPARED. IN EACH CASE THE EASE AND RAPIDITY OF THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM IS STRESSED. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF THE AUTOMATED DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR THE COURTS ARE DISCUSSED. AMONG THESE ARE THE PRODUCTION OF STATISTICAL REPORTS AND HISTORIES OF CONTINUANCES, AND THE REDUCTION OF PROPOSED LITIGATION TO 'WORKLOAD UNITS' TO MORE ACCURATELY ASSESS CASELOADS AND AID IN SCHEDULING.
