Abstract
THE OFFICER'S ARMAMENT SHOULD ENABLE HIM TO MEET THREE BASIC REQUIREMENTS - MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC SAFETY, PROTECTION OF GUARDED INDIVIDUAL, AND SELF-PROTECTION. DESCRIPTIONS ARE PRESENTED OF THE SELF-LOADING POCKET PISTOL AND THE SMALL FRAMED, SHORT BARRELLED REVOLVER. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT THE REVOLVER IS PREFERABLE TO THE SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL AS A PERSONAL WEAPON DUE TO ITS GREATER RELIABILITY AND ABILITY TO FIRE A MORE EFFECTIVE MANSTOPPING CARTRIDGE. MOST BODYGUARDS WILL SHOOT A MEDIUM FRAME REVOLVER MORE EFFECTIVELY THAN THE SMALL POCKET PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY USED. IT IS ALSO CONCLUDED THAT SUPPORTING OFFICERS WITH HEAVY WEAPONS, IN PARTICULAR SHOTGUNS, COULD BE OF CONSIDERABLE HELP IN VERY DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES.
