Motivational Interviewing: Coaching and Supervision (Webinar)

Event Dates
Location
Online
Motivational interviewing (MI), an evidence-based communication and helping style, has now been implemented across a variety of disciplines, including: medicine, behavioral health, corrections and community corrections, child welfare and others.

With three decades of intense study, the body of MI literature has grown to more than 1,200 studies and 200 randomized clinical trials (Miller & Rollnick, 2013). MI research findings indicate coaching and supervision are necessary for the sustainability of acquired skills beyond the classroom (Miller, Yahne, Moyers, Martinez, & Pirritano, 2004).

In this workshop, the presenter will provide an overview of different post-training MI coaching methods such as MI-informed clinical supervision, peer coaching, and the use of MI learning communities. Validated instruments utilized to measure fidelity to the model, such as the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) code and Motivational Interviewing Assessment: Supervisory Tools for Enhancing Proficiency (MIA:STEP) instruments, will also be reviewed.
