Science and Public Safety
The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is working hard to help fulfill President Obama’s pledge to restore science to its rightful place. The Attorney General was the keynote speaker at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Conference in June. He told the audience of researchers and practitioners that “sound judgment derives from solid evidence.” He was joined by other prominent speakers who discussed findings and innovations in areas ranging from homicide research to forensics to school violence.
OJP is engaged in a number of exciting projects that promise to help policymakers and practitioners improve their response to crime and delinquency. To find out about some of our latest efforts, read the most recent issue of the NIJ Journal. Also, visit the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Web site to find out about research efforts in the area of juvenile justice.
