Resolve to Be a Mentor
President Obama has called for a new commitment to service, saying “our destiny as Americans is tied up with one another.” One of the most rewarding forms of service is mentoring. Through programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, OJP supports mentoring programs designed to steer young people away from truancy, delinquency, and crime, and toward healthy, productive lifestyles. Funding is available through OJP’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for National Mentoring Programs that provide mentoring services to high-risk populations.
January is National Mentoring Month. Make your New Year’s resolution to be a mentor to a young person.
