DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OFFICIALS TO HOLD PRESS TELECONFERENCE ON NATIONAL AUTO FRAUD AND THEFT PREVENTION SYSTEM
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will host a press teleconference on the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). NMVTIS allows state motor vehicle administrators, law enforcement officials, consumers and insurance carriers to verify and exchange titling, brand, and theft data instantaneously. Department officials will also be available to discuss final regulations that outline the various responsibilities and reporting requirements for states, auto recyclers, junk yards and salvage yards, and insurance carriers. The call will take place on Thursday, January 29 at 10:00 A.M. EST.
